Vic: Man threatens fire fighters

Police have used capsicum spray to subdue a man at a house fire in Melbourne's north west.

The Braybrook fire commenced at about 8.30pm (AEDT).

The Metropolitan Fire Board says the man was in his late thirties and appeared to be
affected by drugs or alcohol.

He escaped the blaze by jumping through a broken window at the house, suffering cuts
and abrasions.

The man then became agitated and had to be subdued by police after trying to punch
fire fighters attempting to put out the fire.

Fire crews were also threatened by two large Rottweilers on the property which blocked
access to the rear of the house.

Damage to the single storey house has been estimated at $50,000 damage.
