Xinhua Marched into E-reading

BEIJING, Jan 18, 2011 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- The Xinhua News Agency joined hands with Datang Telecom Technology Co., Ltd. (SHSE: 600198) on the formal start of a digital media service platform on January 17, 2011, signaling the formal start into the e-reading industry.

That is to say, users later can read news information resources of the Xinhua News Agency, the official press agency of the government of China, via mobile phones, electronic readers, and PDA.

Currently, the platform has more than 3,000 registered users. Users who use smart mobile phones based on Android operating system can download the customer end for free of charge, and win online news of the Xinhua News Agency for free of charge.

In addition, the listed company also launched e-readers. Compared with other ordinary e-readers, the Xinhua digital media service platform owns a batch of high-end users in the Chinese Party, politics, and military sector. The e-reader is designed to have a market price of nearly CNY 10,000, compared with about CNY 2,000 for ordinary e-readers.
